SCC is an orphanage located in the outskirts of Phnom Penh, No. 199 Chres village, Phnom Penh Thmei commune, Russei Keo district, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We offer shelter, food, clothing, health care, and education to children left behind through poverty and disease and in need of immediate help
We are currently housing 42 children at this orphanage, and have 2 volunteers from England, teaching them English with 5 permanent staff providing them care. We are still trying to complete the rebuilding the boys and the girls dormitories, and are attempting to gather funds to rebuild the kitchen and class room area.
All children are attending public school for main education. Courses offer in the center, such as English classes and computer classes are only additional education.
As you can see from the website, Soeun Children Center (SCC) is originally built from bamboo and grass roofs that the center cannot withstand the weather more than 12 months, before it has to be rebuilt. In 2006, we started to build the center from bridges.
This is the original Girls’ Dormitory. It is 7m by 12m, built
with bamboo
and grass roofs. But this building now is already replaced by the
new cement building.
This is The original Boys’ Dormitory. It is 7m by 12m, built with bamboo
and grass roofs. The boy dormitory is very old and needs to be
repaired. All the boys are sleeping in the bunk beds with mosquito
nets. When it rains they can’t sleep because the roof
leak
This is the kitchen. It is 5.5m by 14m, built with bamboo and
grass roof. Now it is in a very bad shape. The roof is ruined
and leaking rain water. We need to rebuild this kitchen soon as
possible because when it rains the children don’t have place
to eat. We would like to ask for your kind support to help us to rebuild this kitchen.
This is the school for the English training classes.
This school is 5.5m by 12m. It is like the kitchen, built from
bamboo and grass roof, which is now also in bad shape. The roof
is broken and leaking rain. The children cannot attend English
class whenever it rains. After it rains hard, the ground
is flooded and muddy for at least a few days before it is dry enough
for the English classes to resume.. We would like to ask for your support to
rebuild this classroom for the children.
In june 2006, we built a girls dormitory. The first wing
sponsored was by Mr. Jeff Parry and family. the second wing
was sponsored by
Mr. Bo Pheng with his team. the first floor of the third wing was sponsored
by Mrs. Pen Jenny and Mrs. Pov Bon Ratha, and the second floor
sponsored by generous people in San Bernardino, California. Now
the girls don’t have to worry about sleeping in the rain
anymore.
In March 2007 we started to build the first wing of the boys
dormitory. It is 4m by 7m. The first floor is sponsored by Mrs. Kimly Hou and
her family. The second floor is sponsored by Mrs.
Karen Engly and family.
One room costs $1000. One wing with 4 rooms and two stories
costs $4000 to be built.
Please help us to build the boy dormitory. We need to build two
more wings for the boys.
